Turkey to open 2 more 'compassion stores' in Syria

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish Red Crescent Society will open two more "compassion stores" in Syria's Idlib city to provide clothing to refugees, the charity said Wednesday.

In February, a string of boutiques were opened in Idlib to give free-of-cost basic supplies to those in need.

According to the statement by the Turkish Red Crescent Society, one of the new stores on Bab Al Hawa-Sarmade Road will serve 2,400 families in five different camps.

The other store will be located in the center of the city and provide to families and children in the orphanages.

So far, the movement caters to the needs of 31,748 people.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since 2011, when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity. Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict, according to the UN.
