Turkish benchmark stock index down at open

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 7,691.02 points, down 1% or 78.01 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 7.769,03 points, down 0.94%, with a daily trading volume of 102 billion liras ($3.64 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.0205 as of 10.35 a.m. local time (0735GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.6590 and a British pound traded for 33.9495 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $93.05 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,993.15.
