Turkish stock exchange down on Tuesday

Benchmark BIST 100 index drops around 12 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,881.23 points, down slightly by 0.12% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,161.67 points, losing 12.18 points from Monday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,881.23, while its daily high was 10,193.88.

While 57 indices dropped during the day, 39 indices gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 94 billion Turkish liras ($2.8 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.36 trillion liras ($251.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 33.6050 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.7745, and the GBP/TRY traded at 42.6765.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,385.77, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $76.70.
