VAN/HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) - Five PKK terrorists were killed in ongoing anti-terror operations in the eastern and southeastern regions of Turkey on Wednesday.
One PKK terrorist was killed during a clash with Turkish security forces in southeastern Hakkari province early Wednesday morning, according to a military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Four other terrorists were killed in two separate operations in eastern Van province later in the day, the governor's office said.
The operations, which were carried out in Gurpinar and Muradiye districts, also led to the arrest of two terrorists, the statement added.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
