UPDATE - Dutch attacker Wout Weghorst joins Manchester United

ANKARA (AA) - Dutch attacker Wout Weghorst on Friday, joined Manchester United, the Red Devils confirmed.

United announced that Weghorst joined on loan from Burnley until June 2023.

"I feel privileged to be joining Manchester United. I’ve played against the club in the past and it’s a fantastic feeling to now have the chance to pull on the famous red shirt," said Weghorst. "I’ve seen United’s progress under Erik ten Hag this season and can’t wait to start playing my part in pushing the team towards its aims."

The 30-year-old left Besiktas, the Black Eagles also announced Friday.

The Turkish Super Lig side said the loan contract was terminated by mutual agreement with the player and his club, Burnley.

Burnley will pay €2.825 million in termination fees to Besiktas.

Weghorst was rumored to be on Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag's shortlist as a possible replacement for Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club in November to join Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr.

He joined Besiktas from Burnley on a loan last July.
