UPDATE - Escaped zoo animals in Germany captured

BERLIN (AA) - Animals that escaped from a zoo in southwestern Germany were recaptured after a massive search effort, officials said on Friday.

The animals, including two lions, two tigers and a jaguar, had escaped from their enclosures after the Eifel Zoo in Lunebach was flooded during heavy storms on Thursday night.

A spokesperson from the municipality told public television SWR that the animals were recaptured by authorities and had been taken to their enclosures.

Earlier on Friday, police advised local residents to stay indoors and immediately inform authorities if they see the predators.

Local media reported that a bear, which also broke out of the zoo, was shot dead.
