ANKARA (AA) - Manchester City were crowned English Premier League champions Saturday for the third straight season after second-placed Arsenal lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.
Taiwo Awoniyi’s 19th-minute goal ended the title race, leaving the Gunners four points behind City with just one match to play.
Mikel Arteta’s side were top of the table for most of the campaign, surrendering their advantage with a recent series of bad results.
Arsenal last won the Premier League in 2004, while City will celebrate their fifth title in six years and ninth overall.
Saturday’s result also ensured that Nottingham Forest avoided relegation in what was their first season in the Premier League since 1999.

Tottenham lost to Brentford 3-1 on Saturday.
Despite star Harry Kane becoming the first player to score in 25 different matches in a 38-match Premier League season, Tottenham continued to perform poorly this season.
