ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Monday extended well-wishes to Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha, who survived an assassination attempt on Sunday.
On Sunday, Bashagha’s convoy was fired on with machine guns from a pickup truck while he was on the way to his residence in Janzur, west of the capital Tripoli.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke over the phone with Bashagha and conveyed well-wishes to him.
Besides, Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar also spoke over the phone with Bashagha.
Receiving details about the attack from Bashangha, Akar extended a message of unity and solidarity for Libya.
Meanwhile, the Turkish foreign minister also spoke with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov over the phone. No further details of the meeting were provided.
