ANKARA (AA) - The Golden State Warriors took a home win over the Portland Trail Blazers 104-94 on Wednesday as the victors' superstar Stephen Curry hit six 3-pointers to get closer to the NBA's all-time record in this category that belongs to a former star.
The Warriors led the game 47-45 before the break at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The game was tight for a long time. But near the end of the third quarter, the Warriors extended their lead to double digits 76-66 as Otto Porter Jr. made a three-pointer.
Golden State have never looked back in the fourth quarter as the home team had a 16-point lead when their Serbian power forward Nemanja Bjelica scored from free-throw line with 9:23 left to the buzzer.
The Warriors controlled the game to bag a 104-94 win.
Golden State superstar Curry scored 22 points against the Trail Blazers, hitting six 3-pointers of his 17 attempts.
During his 12-year career, Curry tallied 2,964 three-pointers in 786 appearances as the 33-year-old sharpshooter only needs 10 more three-pointers to beat the all-time record holder Ray Allen.
Former Boston Celtics and Miami Heat shooting guard Allen made 2,973 three pointers in 1,300 games to be the league's all-time leader in 3-pointers made.
The 2008 and 2013 NBA champion, Allen, 46, retired in 2016.
Curry-led Warriors will visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

Portland's Norman Powell racked up 26 points to be the game's top scorer.
