World Cup security measures complete, says Qatar

DOHA, Qatar (AA) - Qatar announced Thursday the completion of all security measures necessary to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and the championship security force, Jabr Al-Nuaimi said: "The security measures have been completed, alternative backup plans have been developed."

“We welcome everyone and we guarantee the safety of fans,” he added.

Al-Nuaimi pointed out that there is great security cooperation with other countries.

He also announced: "People without tickets will be allowed to enter Qatar after the end of the group stage in order to enjoy the World Cup atmosphere with the rest of the fans and teams."

The tournament’s health care sector spokesman, Yousef Al-Maslamani, said: "COVID PCR tests and quarantine measures are not required during the World Cup."

Qatar 2022, the first World Cup ever to be held during the Northern Hemisphere winter, will take place from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18.

It will be the first time that an Arab country hosts a World Cup.
