Zambia’s foreign minister holds talks with his Ukrainian counterpart

LUSAKA, Zambia (AA) - Zambia’s Foreign Minister Stanley Kakubo held talks Tuesday with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kakubo said he received a call from Kuleba and the two sides used the opportunity to exchange notes on how to further strengthen bilateral relations between their countries.

"We also exchanged views on pertinent issues of global peace and food security," said Kakubo.

In a separate post, Kuleba said the conversation built on a recent dialogue between Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"I had a fruitful call with my Zambian counterpart (Stanley Kakubo). We discussed Ukraine's peace formula and the food security of African nations," Kuleba said, adding the two nations also agreed to launch regular political consultations between their foreign ministries.

Hichilema was part of a six-member delegation of African leaders that met with Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in July.
