Zenit Saint Petersburg grab 4th straight title in Russian Premier League

After 3-1 victory against Lokomotiv Moscow in week 27, Zenit won their 9th league title

ANKARA (AA) – Zenit Saint Petersburg won their fourth straight title in the Russian Premier League after a 3-1 victory against Lokomotiv Moscow in week 27 on Saturday.

Ivan Sergeyev in the 27th minute, Malcom in the 42nd minute, and Andrey Mostoyov in the 77th minute scored the goals for the winning team while Lokomotiv Moscow's only goal came from Gyrano Kerk in the fourth minute at Krestovsky Stadium in St. Petersburg.

Zenit won their ninth league title with 61 points, leading runners-up Dynamo Moscow with nine points in the league standings.

Spartak Moscow, which have 10 titles, is the most successful team in the Russian Premier League, which was held as Top League from 1992 until it was renamed as Russian Premier League in 2001.
