Liverpool move to English Premier League's top, Girona regain lead in Spanish LaLiga

After winning at Crystal Palace and Arsenal's loss at Aston Villa, Liverpool lead Premier League; Girona beat Barcelona 4-2 to be on top

Liverpool topped the English Premier League, and Girona regained their lead in the Spanish LaLiga last weekend.

In a Saturday away match, Liverpool came back against Crystal Palace 2-1 in London thanks to late goals scored by Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott.

Salah, who joined the club in 2017, scored his 200th Liverpool goal at Crystal Palace's home Selhurst Park.

London's Arsenal moved to the second position after they lost at Aston Villa 1-0 as John McGinn scored the winning goal in Birmingham.

Aston Villa, which have a club-record 15th straight home wins in the Premier League, moved to the division's top three.

Liverpool have 37 points in 16 matches to be the leaders. Reds' nearest opponents Arsenal have 36 points after a loss.

Third-place Aston Villa boosted their points to 35.

Manchester City won at Luton 2-1 to be in the fourth position with 33 points.

- Girona reclaim top spot in Spain

Girona, the surprise contenders of the 2023-24 Spanish La Liga season, beat Barcelona 4-2 on Sunday to regain their lead in the domestic league.

Title contenders Real Madrid could not secure a 1-0 lead against Real Betis on Saturday.

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham was on the score sheet to give a 1-0 lead to the Whites but the game ended 1-1 after Betis' Aitor Ruibal put the ball into the net.

Atletico Madrid beat Almeria 2-1 at home.

Girona have 41 points on top. Real Madrid collected 39 in 16 matches.

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have 34 points each.

- Bayer Leverkusen draw, Bayern Munich stunned

German Bundesliga's unbeaten leaders Bayer Leverkusen drew with third-place Stuttgart 1-1 on Sunday after second-place Bayern Munich were hammered by Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 in a Saturday match.

It was Bayern Munich's first loss in the league.

Before matchday 15, Bayer Leverkusen have 36 points to be four points clear of Bayern Munich, who have a game in hand.

RB Leipzig on Saturday won at Borussia Dortmund 3-2 to be in the fourth position with 29 points.

Stuttgart have 31 points to be third.

- Inter dominate Udinese, go back top of Serie A

Inter Milan thrashed Udinese 4-0 to reclaim the Italian Serie A's top place on Saturday.

Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu scored one goal and made one assist for Inter. Federico Dimarco, Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez were the other scorers for the Milan club.

Inter increased their points to 38 in 15 matches.

Juventus are now second with 36 points as the Turin club beat Napoli 1-0 on Friday.

AC Milan, who were beaten at Atalanta 3-2 in a Saturday Italian league match, are currently in the third spot with 29 points.

Roma and Bologna have 25 points each to be after AC Milan.


- French leaders PSG remain at top

French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Nantes 2-1 in a Saturday match.

Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani were the scorers for PSG at Parc des Princes.
PSG have 36 points in 15 matches.

Second in Ligue 1 standings, Nice from France's south won against Reims 2-1 on Sunday.

Nice have 32 points to be two points clear of Monaco, who won at Rennes 2-1 in a Saturday league match.
